These release notes describe new features, improvements and fixed issues in Pandora FMS NG 747. They also provide information about upgrades and describe some workarounds for known issues.

High availability (HA) for MicroK8s, the lightweight Kubernetes, is now available as a tech preview for Linux, Windows and macOS. The Kubernetes control plane can now be distributed across multiple nodes, bringing resiliency to the cluster while maintaining a low footprint using Dqlite, the distributed SQL engine as the Kubernetes datastore.

We’re excited to announce that the latest release of Calico includes encryption for data-in-transit. Calico is the open source networking and network security solution for containers, virtual machines, and host-based workloads, offering connectivity and security for container workloads. One of Calico’s best-known security features is its implementation of Kubernetes Network Policy, providing a way to secure container workloads by restricting traffic to and from trusted sources.

Long release cycles are no longer viable in the world of software development. The promise of DevOps has been to materially shrink time to value. Like most meaningful transitions, this one hasn’t always been a simple flip of a switch. For many organizations, development teams have become complex and unwieldy. So, the custodians of DevOps have found it difficult to achieve broader adoption of DevOps principles across engineering teams.

Ping is a network tool. The tool seeks out a given address over a network to check if one networked device can communicate with another device. The tool then reports on the quality of the connection based on data loss and response times. Uptrends’ new Ping Tool conducts ping tests from multiple worldwide locations at the same time. You can instantly spot localized downtime and latency issues from around the world using one simple tool.

Our July update brings new features to the email and webhook API’s. You can now close alerts in SIGNL4 when the issue was resolved in your backend system.

Dashboard sprawl is a real problem whether you’re using Grafana or any other tool. When growing to thousands of users – and as many dashboards – you’ll eventually want more information about how the tool is being used in your organization. After all, dashboards don’t help anyone if they aren’t being used. Managing large installations is one of the areas where Grafana Enterprise improves Grafana, and our launch of usage insights in 7.0 is a key part of that.
