Horizontal innovation refers to the inculcation of technological advancements in different industries and domains of human life. When we imagine how these life-changing technologies are poised to change our lives, at the beginning of their adoption curve, the future is somewhat filled with hopes and fears. Statisticians and logicians have shown their support for the induction of these technologies into our lifestyle – and rightly so.

It sucks to be on-call when processes are not well defined and streamlined. Especially around the holidays. You really don't want to hear your phone repeatedly going off right when you're sitting for Christmas dinner with your loved ones or getting to unwrapping the good presents (the ones with the sparkly wrapping paper :P). Your on-call team’s stress levels reflects the health of your system, the cleanliness of your code and the culture of your organization.

My 2nd Gartner IOCS experience ended with a bang, just like my first one, with an amazing presentation by Jason Walker at Blizzard Entertainment (part of the $42B Activision-Blizzard gaming powerhouse) on how they use AIOps to deliver an amazing gaming experience for hundreds of millions of gamers around the world, 24×7. But before I get to that, let me share some more key takeaways from the conference.
