What is self-healing infrastructure and why do you need it? The first part is easy; it’s exactly what the name implies. It’s a methodology for creating automation that allows systems to identify and repair errors and misconfigurations without any human action. The “why” is a little more complex, but, like self-healing infrastructure, is well worth the effort.
GitHub is a web-based platform used for project version control and codebase hosting. GitHub uses Git, a widely-used version control system. GitLab and Bitbucket are similar tools. Small confession: we currently use the term 'post-mortem' in incident.io despite preferring the term 'incident debrief'. Unless you have particularly serious incidents, the link to death here really isn’t helping anyone. However, we're optimising for familiarity, so we're sticking to the term 'post-mortem' here. Ask any engineer and they’ll tell you that a post-mortem is a positive thing (despite the scary name).
