Serverless roundup at AWS re:Invent 2022

AWS re:Invent was back and BIG last week in Las Vegas. Approximately 50,000 AWS customers and partners got together in Las Vegas to learn, talk shop, and maybe attend a couple of parties here and there. Not only did Lumigo have a booth, but our own Saar Tochner, R&D Team Lead and AWS Community Builder gave a well-received talk on Lambda extensions.

Highlights from AWS re:Invent 2022

Just like shopping on Black Friday, AWS re:Invent has become a post-Thanksgiving tradition for some of us at Datadog. We were excited to join tens of thousands of fellow AWS users and partners for this annual gathering that features new product announcements, technical sessions, networking, and fun. This year, we saw three themes emerge from the conference announcements and sessions.

Another VMware Explore has come and gone! Thousands of attendees have headed home from Barcelona ready to implement new strategies, skillsets, and tools for making digital transformation happen. In fact, the general session was kicked off by CEO Raghu Raghuram, who discussed what the typical customer’s journey looks like.

AWS and InfluxDB - Reflections on re:Invent 2022 Keynote

Amazon re:Invent is a major technology event every year. At this year’s re:Invent, the keynote by AWS CEO Adam Selipsky made a concerted effort to draw connections between technology and some of the key challenges that people around the world, and in some cases beyond the terra firma of Earth, face. While the presentation touched on a wide range of topics, one overarching theme was the intersection of the physical and digital worlds, and the role technology plays in bridging that divide.

HAProxyConf 2022 Recap

Earlier this month, I packed my bag and grabbed my lanyard to attend HAProxyConf in the beautiful city of Paris. I was far from alone: nearly 200 customers, colleagues, and community enthusiasts had the same idea. We overcame jetlag, stagefright, and introverted personality types for the joy of meeting and learning from some of the brightest minds in the industry. From load balancing to cybersecurity to endless cups of strong coffee: this is HAProxyConf 2022!

OpenSearchCon: Together after 18 Months

OpenSearch was created by the community for the community to continue to keep an open-source alternative to ElasticSearch and Kibana. The project has been hard at work for the last 1.5 years building, launching and iterating on this important initiative. Some remarkable milestones have been achieved, including over 5,800 stars on GitHub with 19 different community-led projects.

Kentik takes network observability to KubeCon 2022

If you’re an engineer trying to fix real problems with your apps, looking at just one small part of the picture isn’t going to cut it. This is why Kentik is so focused on helping you understand what’s going on beyond single k8s instances, and it’s a big part of what network observability is all about. This was Kentik’s message at Kubecon 2022, which was a memorable event for us.
