Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of traveling to Nuremberg, Germany to attend Embedded World. If you have not heard about it before, Embedded World1 is the largest trade show in the embedded systems industry. This year, over 35,000 people attended and 1,100 businesses exhibited at the Nuremberg Messe.

KubeCon Europe 2024 in Paris was the biggest event of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to date. With over 12,000 participants, it was a monumental event, setting the stage for the latest trends and developments in cloud-native computing. As your loyal CNCF Ambassador, I’m here to share some of the important updates you don’t want to miss. I also invited fellow CNCF Ambassador Thomas Schuetz to join me with his own insights.

Last week saw several big milestones for BigPanda. We launched several new AI-driven capabilities (see below). And we had the privilege of meeting with more than 40 IT operations leaders from customers, including Disney, Nvidia, Autodesk, Lucid Motors, Intel, and Blue Shield, at our customer event, BigPanda 24. Representing some of the most innovative organizations in business and technology, these influencers joined us as part of our customer and technical advisory boards.

This year’s KubeCon was a whirlwind of insights and innovations. It’s always exhilarating to see how far we’ve come and where Kubernetes is taking us next. So, let’s unpack the top trends that are setting the stage for the next wave of developments in the Kubernetes ecosystem.

In the last week of March 2024, Datadog hosted its latest Datadog Summit in London to celebrate our community. As Jeremy Garcia, Datadog’s VP of Technical Community and Open Source, mentioned during his welcome remarks, London is the first city that has seen two Datadog Summits, with the first one in 2018. It was great to be able to see how our community there has grown over the past six years.

Tulips in bloom. Sunny bike rides. The latest observability trends. All signs point to springtime in Amsterdam, where Grafana Labs is thrilled to host GrafanaCON 2024 in person for the first time in five years.

I recently attended SRECon in San Francisco on March 18 - 20, a show dedicated to a gathering of engineers who care deeply about site reliability, systems engineering, and working with complex distributed systems at scale. While there were a lot of talks, I’ll focus on a few areas that gave me the most insight into how having the right data impacts an SREs and an organization’s success.

Another KubeCon has passed! Now that we have all (hopefully) recovered from the week in Paris with good food, wine, and catching up with colleagues, let’s talk about the important topics that took center stage at KubeCon EU 2024 this year. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the initial Kubernetes release, it’s evident that the growth and positive impact of containerized computing have revolutionized the industry.
