Prior to joining N-able, I worked for MSPs that supported clients all over the island of Ireland. That career in IT started back in the last millennium (yes, I’m that old), when reactive support often meant hopping into the car and driving to a customer to resolve their issues in person and on some rare occasions jumping on a flight if the situation was that urgent.

Countless times in the MSP world I’ve had to ask myself, “why can’t the end users handle this?” Typically, the answer boils down to the fact that they are paying the MSP to take that stress and labor off their hands. However, there are occasions when end users, providing they’re properly trained, can legitimately take some of the workload off the MSP’s hands.

It’s common for an MSP to question the value of Microsoft Intune when it comes to managing their customers. There are a few common concerns that tend to come up, including the pricing structure and the lack of multi-tenancy. It’s also something new that the MSP and their staff may need to learn. With that said, is MS Intune bringing value to the MSP’s table? Is there some potential to be leveraged out of using Microsoft’s MDM as a managed service provider?

Insight reports that 55% of small to medium business (SMB) owners feel that the tech tools and solutions they use are getting in the way of them progressing and using newer IT tools. Unfortunately, a lot of these organizations definitely feel stuck because they lack the knowledge of how to advance their tech. According to Veeam’s 2022 Ransomware Trends Report, less than 69% of data stolen during ransomware attacks in 2021 was ever recovered. Ransomware is big business for bad actors. In 2021, the average ransom demand was $247,000, up 45% higher than the previous year. Considering that 76% of the victim organizations surveyed admitted to paying the ransom, it’s likely that the total cost of ransomware to businesses globally was in the billions.
