Quite often I run projects at existing VMware customers that are building a new Digital Workspace. And quite often, that Digital Workspace contains a VDI. Especially when a customer is already using VMware technology in their data center, vRealize Operations (vROps) is used to monitor the environment. Although vROps is a great solution, it’s not really sufficient to monitor the desktop side of things.

The number of tools for IT Ops professionals to choose from is overwhelming. It is our hope that it will help IT professionals find, explore, and choose tools for their future IT Ops stack.

The decision to introduce Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technology is not an easy one. One of the most important aspects to consider is precisely the administration and monitoring of VDI. As standalone analog devices give way to connected digital devices, the latter will generate vast amounts of data that will, in turn, allow us the chance to refine and improve our systems and processes in previously unimagined ways.

Virtual architecture is complex to standup and deploy, and when it comes to the ability of your support team to fix an issue it needs to be done fast and when possible – proactively. This is extremely important from the business user perspective in all organizations, but even more importantly in healthcare where there is another person’s health and possibly even their life on the line.
