One of the great things about being in the telecom industry is the constant innovation that occurs. For example, Microsoft just announced an exciting new offering for telecom service providers, Operator Connect Accelerator, aimed at helping them get the most out of their Teams investments. Operator Connect is Microsoft’s managed service for connecting Teams and telephony services.
I am excited about the upcoming Optical Fiber & Communications (OFC 2022) Conference in San Diego for several reasons. Not only will it be the first in-person conference that I have attended in more than two years due to the pandemic, but the thing that I am most excited about is the fact that Ribbon will be showcasing our new IP Wave offering at the show.
There’s little doubt that a lot has changed when it comes to network design, specification and build. The seemingly simple goal of carrying traffic from point A to point B might remain, but these days it comes with a long list of options and alternatives to cover a wide range of network architectures, content providers and service types, all of which might have different requirements for bandwidth, latency, and availability.
Ah, the romance of the railroad. Conductors shouting “all aboard”, watching the countryside whizz by, dining cars and sleeper cars, boxcars, the Orient Express, bullet trains, chasm-spanning bridges, the clickety clack of the rails, clang clang at the crossings, and the engineer waving from the caboose. As we near the two hundred year mark of the first passenger train in 1825, we can observe that railways, our oldest modern means of mass transportation, are as strong as ever.
