Split projects and users across multiple organizations

As an organization owner, you can grant your key contributors permission to manage all your projects, billing information, or users within your organization. But… What if you are an agency that builds websites on behalf of multiple customers, and you want to invoice your customers directly? What if your company manages multiple business units or departments, all of which have their invoicing and billing requirements or their own contracts with Upsun?

OpenSearch is here

We’re excited to announce that Upsun now offers OpenSearch as a service available and included on all plans. OpenSearch is a distributed RESTful search and analytics engine you can use for log analytics, a search backend, clickstream analytics, and more. With the recent move by ElasticSearch to switch to a licensing model, it was important for us to propose a strong open source alternative. And OpenSearch is completely open source, so you could run and manage it on your own.

[UPDATED] We're changing the way development environment URLs are generated

UPDATE 6 April 2022: There are times where we have to revisit our plan, and today is one of those times. Last week, we released a fix to solve some inconsistencies in how our development URLs are generated. Even though this change was not impacting any production environments, many customers reported that it was breaking their test integrations with third-party services, or that they were reaching a provisioning limit with our Let’s Encrypt certificates.

Go 1.18 released on Upsun

As of yesterday, the team behind Go has released a new version 1.18 with some significant changes to the language. Those of you who want to start using these new features are in luck: you can do it right away on Upsun. If you’re already using Go on Upsun, you can upgrade by changing the number in the type key of your app configuration. In your.platform.app.yaml file: If you’re not yet using Go for your project, now’s a great time to give Go a try.

Reel in your activities: announcing cancellable activities and crons

Feature announcement: You can now cancel Upsun activities through the CLI and management console. Last year we released activity scripts, custom scripts that you can upload to your projects to run in response to any project or environment activity. In March we announced parallel activities, a queue that allows two simultaneous processes across your environments. Today we’re announcing another change to your activities—you can now cancel them.

Stop wasting your time! A modern development workflow for WordPress, using Upsun plus third-party tools

To quote my colleague, Chad, WordPress “remained tremendously popular since its release in 2003”. For many, WordPress remains by far the CMS that is easiest to adopt, and that provides a fast time to market in the majority of use cases. There is so much high-quality material out there for WordPress, be it OSS or Premium, that one can have beautiful sites powered by an easy-to-use CMS up and running in no time.

Upsun implements new EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)

On June 4, 2021, the EU Commission released two new contract templates, both labeled Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). The first template is for standard contractual clauses between controllers and processors under Article 28 of the GDPR, and its adoption is optional. The second template is for module-based standard contractual clauses for personal data transfers to non-adequate countries, and its adoption is required. With GDPR compliance as our top priority, Upsun has adopted both.
