Key Takeaways In modern software delivery the pressure to iterate quickly is real. Kubernetes sparked a revolution in container orchestration, and it remains a huge forward step for many teams. But the truth is, adopting Kubernetes is not a guarantee that you'll suddenly move faster or reduce pain. Managing a Kubernetes cluster at scale requires deep expertise, dedicated operations, and often more overhead than many organizations anticipate. This has led many companies to explore Kubernetes alternatives.

The broker is processing 8,000 messages per second. There are 340 active client connections. A configuration change is needed: a memoryUsage limit increase to prevent an approaching producer flow control event. The question is not whether to make the change. The question is how to make it without dropping messages, disconnecting clients, or triggering a cascade of client reconnect storms that themselves cause the resource pressure you are trying to resolve.

Maintaining GxP standards has become harder as IT environments grow more distributed. Manual processes, fragmented accountability, and inconsistent controls make it difficult to maintain a consistent compliance posture across endpoints and critical systems.

This quarter we’ve been busy investing a lot of effort into improving how users understand and control what they pay for VictoriaMetrics Cloud, and how to move around the console while doing it, with major UX improvements across different sections and functionalities. The big piece of work is transparent credits reporting, giving prepaid customers full visibility into balance, consumption, and expiration.

This is the fifth and final post in the DRIVE Deep Dive series, following Delivery, Reliability, Initiatives, and Vigilance. For the complete model across all five pillars, download the full DRIVE framework. -- Engineering money and time land in three places a leadership review can actually act on: the cloud bill, the internal spend on AI and LLM tokens, and the split between building new things and keeping old ones running.

Occasionally, I get asked, "is pgvector enough for Enterprise AI Solutions or should I migrate to a dedicated vector database?" The honest answer is No Create EXTENSION vector; ALONE is not going to solve your solution for enterprise AI. That being said, I don't think you're asking the right question. The better question is, "does a dedicated vector database make sense for my workload or would pgvector suffice?".

You can't ask questions of data you don't have. Neither can your agents.

The NAS Died. My WhatsUp Gold Server Died With It. WhatsUp Gold 360 Still Alerted Me. A real home-lab failure shows why always-on external monitoring and cloud-originated notifications matter when the local monitoring stack becomes part of the outage. On April 13, 2025, the NAS providing NFS storage to several virtual machines in my Proxmox lab locked up and halted.
