The rise of hybrid cloud, CI/CD, agile methodologies, and microservices has dramatically accelerated innovation, but it has also brought corresponding increases in complexity, fragmentation, and chaos. Enterprise IT departments are struggling to keep up. To stay ahead of these complex environments, enterprises have dramatically increased their spending on observability and IT Service Management (ITSM) tools. However, despite a 20% year-over-year increase in spending, incident detection remains poor.

Human-executed change is still the most significant contributor to IT outages, and traditional IT change management can’t keep up. One global enterprise processes over 30,000 changes per month, supported by more than 10 Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings per week, and still sees 15–20% of major incidents caused by changes. Even more telling: 60% of those incidents are linked to changes previously assessed as “low risk.”

Today, BigPanda released our first-ever research report based on data gathered from our agentic IT operations platform. Our Monitoring and Observability Tool Effectiveness for IT Event Management report provides insights and benchmarks on incident detection and noise reduction for 130 enterprise organizations, including the monitoring and observability data sources integrated with BigPanda.

The complexity of modern enterprises has pushed IT operations to the limit. Hybrid cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and agile methodologies revolutionized IT, but caused an explosion of scale and data fragmentation. This complexity simply cannot be managed by legacy tools or manual ITSM processes designed for monolithic systems and static infrastructures.

The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) has been the backbone of IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT operations for years. A CMDB is a central repository that stores information about IT assets, configurations, and dependencies, enabling organizations to manage their IT infrastructure more effectively.

Last week saw several huge milestones for BigPanda. We launched the BigPanda agentic IT operations platform, a sweeping evolution of our product offerings. As part of this launch, we also introduced two new AI solutions, BigPanda AI Detection and Response and BigPanda AI Incident Assistant. These powerful new capabilities bring agentic AI into IT operations, transforming how enterprises automate the manual and time-intensive workflows of ITOps, L1 response, and incident management.

IT operations (ITOps) teams are challenged to keep pace with the rapid pace of digital transformation. As companies use more cloud-based apps, increase agile deployments, and develop new microservices-based applications, their technology stacks become exponentially more complex. This makes life increasingly challenging for the teams responsible for maintaining reliable IT services and infrastructure. Hybrid tech stacks are siloed, complex, and fragmented.

IT operations have reached a breaking point. Hybrid cloud and modern software architectures have led to unprecedented increases in the scale, complexity, and fragmentation of IT infrastructures. In their attempts to manage this complexity, enterprises invest billions into observability tools, IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, and outsourced Managed Service Providers (MSPs).

According to a recent survey by Enterprise Management Associates, IT outages can cost large enterprises more than $1.5 million per hour. AIOps offers a solution. With an effective AIOps platform in place, enterprises can decrease the frequency and cost of outages by 30% and reduce their duration to under an hour. AIOps means artificial intelligence for IT operations.
