Civo update - August 2021

Welcome to the Civo update for August 2021. It's was a busy month, with the big news being the launch of Civo Academy: A full Kubernetes learning program consisting of over 50 videos created in-house by the team here at Civo. We also kicked off the Civo DevOps Bootcamp! The first few live stream installments have been a huge success, helping developers at any stage of their career learn more about DevOps fundamentals.

Kubernetes in 2021: Where does the industry go next?

Ever since Google made Kubernetes open-source in 2014, it has enjoyed incredible growth, helping businesses of all sizes to successfully manage their containers and ultimately make the most of all that our cloud native world has to offer. Individual users certainly initially led the charge with Kubernetes, identifying issues, and generally exploring the best ways to intelligently test, manage, and deploy workloads.

Civo reviewed by respected Kubernetes guru Viktor Farcic

A couple of days ago, I was pleasantly surprised to suddenly see a tweet come in from Viktor Farcic. Viktor now works at upbound.io who developed Crossplane, and he also runs his own popular YouTube channel and co-hosts DevOps Paradox podcast. He’s well respected in the cloud native community. When I saw the tweet and noticed that Viktor had recorded a review of Civo on YouTube, I was just hoping he was kind to us...and I am pleased to say he was!

A to Z of Kubernetes and Containerization

As more enterprises shift towards cloud-native, containers are proving their worth in providing developers with a flexible way to quickly get applications up and running in the cloud. Kubernetes is an integral part of this journey, offering an industry leading container orchestration platform to automate the deployment, scaling and management of containers.

Seeing Civo featured by Forbes makes all the hard work worthwhile!

Yesterday, my morning started much like most Tuesday mornings do for me... my kids (6 and 4) were up way too early again at around 6am! Both were demanding I play with them before they head to school. I did my usual and said "give me five minutes" as I tried to wake up after another night of going to sleep after midnight... one day I should really learn to go to bed earlier, now that I have kids! But this morning was different. I started to wake from my dazed state and reached for my phone.

June 2021 Civo Roadmap Update

In October 2020 we released the community-driven roadmap for 2021. It's time to revisit and see all the things we have completed from the list! I am very proud to say that at Civo we have taken the community suggestions and implemented most of them during the launch on May 4th 2021. Let's dive into each of the features listed in the original blog post and see where we are with the 2021 Civo Roadmap.
