Prometheus is a metrics-based monitoring and alerting stack that is purpose-built for handling metrics generated by dynamic cloud environments such as Kubernetes. As well as its use as an alerting and monitoring stack, Prometheus is also able to perform addition, average metrics over time and add and multiply any time-series data ingested.
