I recently had a cloud migration client who was at the beginning stage of their discovery phase and looking to jump straight to “which database platforms should I be using in the cloud?” - a tall ask you might say, but following the three steps below they were able to discover and analyze all of their database servers in just two weeks.
2021 turned out to be a tale of two stories – on the one hand we saw cloud investments and adoption on the rise, and on the other we observed uncertainties from leaders tasked with bringing about these transformations. Nonetheless, there is little doubt that 2021 was a hot year for the cloud.
Summary The cloud is always innovating. One of the more recent and large breakthroughs has been the advancement and improvements in CPU architectures. Specifically with ARM CPU processors, where we are seeing adoption across all forms of computing, not only cloud, but also laptops with Apple’s M1, and of course in the past decade with mobile phones. The more recent availability in cloud computing therefore is not surprising, given the progress made in all other areas of technology.
