The Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2019 event is coming quick, and the predictions are that the now week-long event will be the biggest yet with over $136 billion in sales. E-commerce websites like Amazon and Walmart have been ramping-up for Black Friday for months, but what do you need to do to prepare for the potential rush on your site?

October 2019: New and updated website monitoring checkpoints

For the month of October, we’ve added three new checkpoint locations for a total of 212, and we’ve updated the IP addresses of three more checkpoints. We keep adding new checkpoints because you need to monitor your websites and web services from as close to your users’ locations as you can get. A few randomly placed monitoring locations or just monitoring from the cloud (who’s users are in the cloud anyway?) doesn’t cut it.

Uptrends - Introducing Self-Service Transactions

We’ve had Web Application Monitoring for years. After recording, our Support team tweaks and tests transaction scripts for you (this is still an option). With Self-Service Transactions (SST), you can now write and manage your own scripts. If you have a Business or Enterprise account, you can start using Self-Service Transactions during the final stages of our beta testing.

Set up a web performance budget

Establishing a performance budget early in the development cycle for websites and APIs is the optimum choice for keeping your websites and web services fast for all users. However, it is never too late to set a web performance budget to improve your user experience. Keeping your users in mind, a web performance budget allows you to make decisions based on your preferred page speed.

Is your website monitoring service using the latest browser version?

Chrome 77 dropped last week, and our 209 checkpoint locations are in the process of updating or are already using the newest version of Chrome to monitor your website. That means your Web Application Monitoring and Full Page Check performance monitors are in sync with your users with the latest and greatest Chrome browser. Is your website monitoring service current?

Introducing Self-Service Transaction Monitoring-Beta

We’ve released our newest feature, Self-Service Transactions (SST), for the beta release. Although you can still have us take care of the scripting for you (Full-Service Transactions), with SST you write and manage your own scripts. You can use our handy visual Step Editor, write your code directly into the text editor, or interface with our API.

From Steps to Credits in Transactions and Multi-Step API monitors

We’ve changed Transaction steps and Multi-step API Monitoring steps to Transaction credits and Multi-step API Monitoring credits. In short: Steps are used to group your actions in your monitor definitions, and credits are used to buy Transaction or Multi-Step API monitors. Let’s explain that in more detail.
