Apple's New iPhone SE

Apple's New iPhone SE

Apple is preparing to release the new iPhone SE, expected to arrive before the end of February. It is noteworthy that the launch of the new device will take place without a traditional presentation, a move that allows the company to reduce marketing costs and accelerate the device's market entry. However, the current version of the iPhone SE, which still features a Home button and lacks Face ID, appears somewhat outdated compared to modern trends.

The new iPhone SE model resemble the iPhone 14, reflecting Apple's commitment to updating its design language. The most significant upgrade is the inclusion of an in-house modem, which Apple has been developing for a long time. This means that the new iPhone SE will serve as a testing ground for Apple’s internally designed components, potentially benefiting future flagship models.

The current iPhone SE is priced at $429, but given the updated design and the support of Apple Intelligence, it is unlikely that this price point will remain unchanged when the new generation of smartphones is released. Last quarter, iPhone sales decreased by 1%, so the release of a new affordable model may help boost demand. In China, for example, Apple's revenue dropped by 11%, making the launch of the new iPhone SE particularly important for that market.

Apple stock performance is closely watched, especially with the anticipated release of the new iPhone SE later this month. Analysts predict that the introduction of this more affordable model could stimulate demand and positively influence Apple's financial performance.

Signs that the new iPhone SE announcement is imminent are already evident. Many Apple Stores in the U.S. have depleted their stock of the current model. At the same time, rumors about the release of new iPad Air and MacBook Air models have resurfaced, though this is not entirely new information. The upcoming iPad Air and MacBook Air are expected to feature the Apple M4 processor, but no design and hardware changes are expected.

Some consumers looking to buy an iPhone SE now are finding it difficult to obtain their preferred configuration. For example, the 256 GB version in red is unavailable for shipment until March. Menwhile, inventory of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is also running low. In Europe, these smartphones are no longer available due to their lack of a USB-C port, which is now required by local legislation. The new iPhone SE will be equipped with a USB-C port to comply with these standards.

Apple is also rumored to be working on the iPad 11, a new version of its entry-level tablet. It is also expected to feature a more powerful chip, possibly the A17 Pro, enabling support for Apple Intelligence-based functions. However, there is no confirmed release date for this device.

Meanwhile, global tablet shipments increased by 9% in 2024, reaching 147.6 million units. Apple continues to dominate this market, with 56.9 million devices shipped, securing to a 38.6% market share. Samsung ranks second with 27.8 million units sold and an 18.8% share, while Huawei follows in third place with 10.74 million tablets shipped, capturing a 7.3% market share.

Interestingly, Xiaomi and Huawei significantly increased their tablet sales in 2024, positioning themselves as growing competitors to Apple. However, despite their progress, they remain far from matching Apple’s sales figures.

Apple enthusiasts can expect the new iPhone SE to be announced in the coming months. At the same time, competitors such as Xiaomi and Huawei continue to strengthen their positions, but they still have a long way to go before posing a serious challenge to Apple’s dominance.
