Upgrade Ubuntu LTS to Ubuntu Pro on AWS
Are you running Ubuntu LTS on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and looking to upgrade to Ubuntu Pro for enhanced security and additional support options? Then this tutorial is for you! In April 2023, AWS released a new functionality that allows users to upgrade their Ubuntu LTS instances to Ubuntu Pro with just a few clicks.
In this tutorial, we will cover all the steps needed to upgrade Ubuntu LTS instances to Ubuntu Pro on AWS using AWS License Manager.
Ubuntu Pro is a premium version of the Ubuntu Linux distribution that is optimized for enterprise use. It includes several security features, such as kernel livepatching and hardening scripts using CIS and DISA-STIG standards. Additionally, Ubuntu Pro is compliant with FIPS 140-2, a U.S. government standard that defines security requirements for cryptographic modules.
By upgrading to Ubuntu Pro, you will also benefit from long-term support (LTS) for up to ten years, reducing the need for frequent major upgrades. This makes it an excellent choice for enterprise use and organizations that require strict security standards.
