A lot of the time people think reliability or resilience is an afterthought.
Years ago when I started my career, I used to actually test hot standby scenarios, where we are talking about routers and switches and you actually failed one and you bring the other one down and configure it in a hot standby.
Today a lot of it is cloud-based, you have to design, a lot of it has gone inside the SDLC, for example. I think it is important for everybody, especially an architect, to think of reliability as the core of the outcome, as the core of their design.
Reliability must be a crucial outcome for all of the architectures, and that will make the systems stable, that will make the business effective, and the customers would actually see their services as reliable. And I think that's what every business needs.
