 Reliability to me is not about achieving mythical perfection. It's about embracing complexity, recovering quickly from failures or incidents, and building trust through transparency and adaptability.

People often have five nines. That is 99.999% uptime or just five minutes of downtime a year. On paper, that sounds almost mythical, but those five minutes can happen at the worst possible time during a product launch, a high stakes transaction, or a critical business event.

In those moments, user frustration and business impact can far outweigh the technical achievement of high uptime.
