Browser Rendering and DOM loading Performance - #NeotysPAC Meet-UP #9

May 28, 2020

🍻 During this 9th #NeotysPAC Meet-Up, the chosen topic was “Browser Rendering and DOM loading Performance”.

The design of our web pages has significantly changed over the last ten years. We started many years ago by having a minimal web page with all the logic was stored in our web servers through the “presentation layer”. In order to provide a better user experience and better design, our web pages are taking a similar journey as mobile native applications. Now these days, our web pages have many JavaScript to generate the fancy UI of our web pages.

That’s why we are not talking about response time anymore but user experience (including the JavaScript execution time and the rendering time). Traditional load testing tools generate the load at the protocols level. Therefore they are not able to report on the user experience.

During this meet up we talked about how we could measure user experience and what are the advantages and disadvantages of using a protocol-based or browser-based? We also discussed how we could include web performance activities combined with load and performance testing.

If you’re interested in this topic, don't hesitate to watch the recording. You can also watch the replays of all the #NeotysPAC Meet-Up in case you missed them.👩‍💻👨‍💻 All available on the blog 👉 https://bit.ly/2xpzMSq
